Soft & Dreamy

Soft and dreamy.

There are times in life for bold, bright, contrast-- just as there are times for soft and dreamy. Isn't it just like the seasons? All are beautiful in their own way and time.

Soft and dreamy makes my heart peaceful. It makes me happy yet serene. There is the moment when you see it that it speaks 'ahhhh' and turns your heart to a gentler manner.

Pink lace. Knitted Estonian Lace to be more exact. Light and airy with it's identifying feature of the Nupp (pronounced like 'soup') The bobble creates texture in an otherwise very open and airy lace fabric.

Enjoy a bit of pink- airy- dreams today! Let your heart soften and dream.

Happiness Catalyst

A happiness catalyst.

Finding things that are simple yet in unexpected places can truly alter our brain circuitry and allow us to have more happiness. It doesn't necessarily make life's problems disappear, but it can and does make life more happy and connect us to things deeper than our regular daily doings.

I love crochet. Especially antique crochet, well actually almost any crochet! There is such a rich heritage and detail work that I adore. Whenever I see it, wherever I see it, it makes my 'heart-song' happier. I share with you two small moments today from my happiness catalyst.  It's all around us... it truly is.

On this day

On this day...

find beauty in the simple things

take a closer look at things you have
and see them with a new perspective
with a new light

share time with those you love
remembering and honoring from where you came
no matter the trials or challenges

breathe freshness into your life
find new things to motivate and encourage yourself and others

and most of all
have a wonderful day
now and always.

Love you mom. Your gift of the little thoughtful book so many years ago brought happiness to my heart today and reminds me of the beauty you have always taught me to seek.

Our Hands...

Hands are often mentioned in poetry and are a symbol of our industriousness and creativity.
Hands...as I type this post I am taking a look at my own hands.
Hands that have experienced quite a bit in life but hopefully have much more to experience and contribute. Hands that I have been told are one of my pretty features and yet also show my earned life experience. Hands that allow me to create and nurture.
Hands that long to be held by a loved one.
Hands that could use extra moisturizer and a manicure!
My hands... I'm grateful for them for through them I can connect here with friends and learn about new places, ideas, people, projects and creations.

During the reign of Queen Elizabeth I and during the Regency era, gloves and gauntlets (fingerless gloves) were worn for adornment as well as practical purposes. They were a vital part of a well-dressed ladies wardrobe. Gloves were always worn in public. Queen Elizabeth I was notorious for taking off her gloves to show her beautiful hands. Ladies wore the gauntlets in order to protect their hands and still enable them to do  needlework or write.

My gauntlets or fingerless mitts as they are now known keep my hands warm while typing, texting, and driving. Vocabulary ladies of the past would wonder what we were talking about. They are pink and have jewels. I think the ladies of past era's would be proud of me.

Take care of your hands and enjoy all they do for you.

White clouds in Crystal

White clouds in crystal...

Visited a local thrift shop today... found treasures that made my heart content. To my delight I discovered several items that now have a new home! I'm so happy to bring them home with me on this winters day and look forward to creating beauty with them. I think they will be happy to share my home with me, don't you?!

Beautiful items once loved, now loved again.  Welcome home.

T is for me...

The letter T- I've grown to love the letter and my monogram. A pink T with romantic swirls and ribbon bows is a symbol of my name. There is something special about a monogram and the personal touch and expression it lends.

Tea cups, Tea pots, Time for Tea- so grateful my name begins with T.

Winter Rose

Dreaming of roses on this wintry day...
Looking out my window this morning it's winter and cold but not a blustery winter day. The sky is a pale blue and lightly dusted with clouds. The kind of sky that reminds me spring and summer are the next anticipated seasons which bring their burst of color in my garden. I'm content though with the wintry sky and cold brisk air today for it brings yet unknown treasures my way. I think I'll find a way to enjoy a rose and perhaps even be outdoors to enjoy my winter sky.

I'll wrap a warm hand-knit headband around my ears and enjoy the moment of cold January while in my heart knowing spring is around the corner. Have a wonderful January day!
